Welcome teacher friends.
I’m Sheila Jane
and I am here to help you—
Teach Happy. Live Happy. Be Happy.
My goal is to add value to your busy teacher life with helpful tools, engaging videos, inspirational podcasts, fun to read newsletters, and free classroom resources to use now.
Think of the Sheila Jane Teaching website as the staff room we all dream of having. A cozy hub where teachers are celebrated.
Look at all you do—- model, coach, communicate, enlighten, demonstrate, inspire, nurture, tell stories, meet standards, share passionately the curriculum, and so much more!
Teaching is meaningful and makes a difference.
We also know teachers put others before themselves.
A recipe for teacher burn out.
We can’t lose quality teachers any longer. I know this all too well. I was almost a teacher burn out statistic.
Taking care of yourself is a top priority.
You deserve to be HAPPY: joyful, peaceful, sparkling, playful, captivated, light-hearted, refreshed, balanced, spirited, energized, healthy, passionate, fulfilled, and feel wonderful about the work you do!
Here’s my journey to teacher happiness.
I like to think of myself as a teacher with part Carrie Bradshaw mixed with Drew Barrymore. A California girl living in the wine country.
The Carrie in me is a fashion enthusiast, a passionate writer, and a makeup lover. My girlfriends are my soul-mates. The Drew Barrymore side of me is a fun-loving spirit and entrepreneur.
Many moons ago, I used to play teacher. I would stick paper clips on my fingers, write on a chalk board, and teach a classroom full of stuffed animals. Those stuffed animals eventually turned into real students. I have taught grades K-5 in several districts over the span of 10 years.
Recently, I was thrilled when my blog post about a student with autism went viral on the Autism Speaks Website and Fox News picked up the story.
Another hi-light was when one of my free science craftivities was featured in Scholastic Magazine.
Blogging, creating curriculum on Teachers Pay Teachers, and enjoying my students kept my mind off the more difficult aspects of the job.
There were years of layoffs, difficult administration, multiple grade level and school changes, and ultimately a school that compromised my values as an educator. The district tracked students using test scores. Teachers were second class citizens.
After two years of witnessing what happened to me and my colleagues, I realized I wanted to be a teacher advocate.
I included more positive topics and inspirational tips for teachers on my blog, Instagram, and Facebook feeds. I became fascinated by social media and how teachers were using it to connect with each other from around the world, lifting each other’s spirits.
I loved stalking blogs and following teachers on Instagram and Facebook, but I wanted more. I wanted to see teachers in action, not just black and white words on a blog with still pictures. I dreamed about a daily TV talk show with teacher celebrities, so I created my own version.
I developed the popular series ‘Teachers We Love’ on my YouTube Channel to interview the inspirational teachers YOU love.
Inspiration comes to me when I watch my favorite beauty gurus on YouTube, when I scan Pinterest, and read any lifestyle content. Then, I look at the educational magazines. Boring.
Teaching is a lifestyle.
Teachers are interior decorators, fashionistas, designers, and trendsetters. Education needs the PR magic blend of an Oprah magazine layout, paired with the savvy Jessica Alba, Honest Company values to showcase the real teacher lifestyle.
That would be me.
I’m the pioneer that delivers innovative and quality teaching lifestyle content in ways that are unique to the sometimes serious education world.
Enter Sheila Jane Teaching.
I help teachers make happiness a top priority and provide daily actions for positive, doable results.
Now, you and other teachers meet on Sheila Jane Teaching to support one another for a teach happy lifestyle. Charter school, private school, home school, and public school teachers from every grade level are part of the Sheila Jane Teaching community.

I never pretend to have all the answers or to be the perfect teacher. You will discover that I am authentic, quirky, curious, and devoted to you.
I am committed to share with you all that I have learned and will learn on my teaching journey.
Please understand I have decided to be vulnerable in this process. There will be many blooper laughs along the way as we build our friendship.
